With two New Mexico Bowl appearances in the past three seasons, Wyoming head coach Dave Christensen has given the Cowboys football program a sense of respectability.
And with that new respectability comes new uniform options.
In 2012, Wyoming will be able to choose from nine different jersey and pant combinations manufactured by Nike. One combination includes camouflage on a gray jersey, gray pants and a brown helmet.
Wyoming Tribune sports reporter Jeremiah Johnke brought the camo jersey to the masses’ attention with this TwitPic, which can also be seen on page 14 of Wyoming football’s 2012 media guide.
The camouflaged Pistol Pete on the helmet is cool, but Wyoming’s colors just don’t work for us when applied to camo. We acknowledge that they’re paying tribute to the military — something which they’ve done frequently in Christensen’s tenure in Laramie — but this isn’t the best way to do it, in our opinion. Grade: D
