Following West Virginia’s 30-21 upset over Oklahoma State on Saturday, Mountaineers fans in Morgantown had to be thinking, “Finally! Our first opportunity for a WVU-style riot in forever!”
In one incident, a group of at least half a dozen young men flipped a car in Parking Lot 5, a 24-hour restricted parking area near the school’s Life Sciences Building (video above).
And of course, there was general rowdiness in the Morgantown streets, which necessitated pepper spraying by the police to calm things down (video below).
By West Virginia standards, this revelry was tame in nature in comparison to past years. According to the Charleston Daily Mail, Morgantown firefighters reported 10 game-related nuisance fires on Saturday. Compare that to WVU’s Sweet Sixteen victory over Texas Tech in 2005, when there were more than 50.
Dare we say that Mountaineers fans are getting tamer?
