Black is the new black for football teams in the Great Lakes State.
Western Michigan became the latest college football team to unveil all-black jerseys for this season. They are the second directional school in the state to do so in 2012 after Central Michigan unveiled an all-black look in August.
But unlike the Chippewas, WMU did not apply that design choice to the helmet as well. The Broncos’ lids have a metal design similar to Oregon’s carbon fiber look.
Both the introduction video for the new look and the players’ reactions upon seeing them in their lockers for the first time are below. Metallic colors go very well with black, so well done Western Michigan. Grade: B+
