When Syracuse’ Dwayne Washington was eight, older kids asked, “Who do you think you are, The Pearl?” referring to Earl “The Pearl” Monroe. Hence, a new Pearl was born. Washington became a Syracuse legend as a magician with the basketball. In November, he abruptly resigned as the girls basketball coach at Jefferson High School in Brooklyn.
