Cal’s Shareef Abdur-Rahim became the first freshman ever to win the Pac-10 Player of the Year Award in his lone college season in 1996. Abdur-Rahim retired in 2008 but even before retiring he began the Future Foundation in 2001. Today the program continues to provide after school activities for at-risk youth in Atlanta.
