Charlie Weis knows that he has done little to endear himself to Kansas fans during his first season as the Jayhawks’ football coach.
So on Thursday, Weis extended an offer to KU students via his Twitter account for free tickets, available on a first-come, first-serve basis between 4 and 6 PM CT on Saturday. Below are the tweets Weis posted.
All KU students. Not going to the game because you don’t have a ticket? No problem, I’m buying! Send our seniors off the right way!

Go to the student entrance on the northeast side of the stadium on Saturday between 4 and 6pmwith a valid student ID.I’ll pick up the tab!

Weis made headlines earlier this season by holding a Sunday practice without his senior players and clashing on two separate occasions with the school’s student newspaper, The University Daily Kansan. He no doubt hopes this most recent gesture wipes the bad taste those first two incidents left in people’s mouths.
While the gesture is nice, we’re not sure how many people will show up to watch a 1-9 team play – even for free.
