With Washington State 2–7 and 0–6 in the Pac-12, Mike Leach’s first season in Pullman has been a rough one. And at least one Cougars didn’t appreciate Leach taking out his frustration on his players.
After walking away from a workout on Sunday, wide receiver Marquess Wilson was suspended from the team earlier today. Since Leach’s arrival, Wilson has been one of the players Leach has reportedly ridden the hardest as the junior had a tendency of coasting during practice under predecessor Paul Wulff.
Wilson is likely not the only player peeved at Leach. Following Wazzu’s 49–6 loss to Utah on Saturday, the coach called his offensive line’s performance “one of the most heartless efforts up front I’ve ever seen. And our D-line wasn’t any better.” He then ordered all starting offensive and defensive linemen out of the locker room to field media questions.
If this doesn’t represent the breaking point on the Palouse in 2012, we’re afraid to see what does.
