Lawanda Ann Alford is extremely proud of her son, Southern Miss freshman quarterback Anthony Alford. But that pride has proven to be a double-edged sword for her.
On Saturday, Mrs. Alford was escorted from the stands at Southern Miss’ M.M. Roberts Stadium and subsequently booked into the Forrest County jail on disorderly conduct and resisting arrest charges.
Both Anthony Alford and the Golden Eagles as a whole struggled on Saturday in a 59–24 loss to Marshall. Alford was just 9-21 passing for 65 yards on the day. It was a loud argument between Mrs. Alford’s and a fan who had berated her son’s play that led to her ejection from the stands.
Screamed Lawanda in the below video: “Keep my child name out your mouth!”
Unfortunately, these types of confrontations are nothing new for Lawanda Alford. She was also escorted from the baseball stadium at Petal (MS) High School this past spring after coming onto the field of play and screaming at the umpire for what she thought was a bad called third strike against her son.
We can hear Anthony groaning “Mommmmmm!” from here.
