‘Bama DL Reverse Body Slams Mizzou RB

LaMichael Fanning, a freshman defensive lineman at Alabama, had an opportunity to get on the field at the tail end of the Crimson Tide’s 42–10 blowout of Missouri on Saturday. Fanning was apparently pretty excited at the opportunity.

On a Tigers running play, Fanning wrapped up Mizzou’s Russell Hansborough, lifted him above his head and body slammed him backwards to the turf. Fanning was whistled for unnecessary roughness on the play.

If Fanning felt remorseful, he didn’t show it. Cameras caught him jawing at Missouri players and possibly an official on the following play.

As CBS’ Verne Lundquist and Gary Danielson said after the play, Fanning could be suspended for his suplex of Hansborough. Maybe he’s just announcing his intention to go the same route as former Alabama linebacker Eryk Anders and become an MMA fighter.

It was a belly to back suplex. Chris Benoit would have been proud.

Looked like the work of the Devil.
    Oh……that’s right.

that is get it on football, and that is what football is, that’s why they train and get in condition.

No, that was NOT football.  What that was, was uncalled for.

I like Alabama, but that kid is teaching a lot of young kids bad things.  He could have broken that Missouri player’s neck and he needs to be suspended for it.  It was very poor form.
The players at the other SEC schools were suspended for a game.  This kid should be too.If he isn’t suspended then shame on the commissioner.  I guess Alabama is getting preferential treatment.  But regardless who you root for, that was an embarrassing display of aggression and poor sportsmanship. I am glad my 12 year old didn’t see that.

    • Nolaresident

Oh well, when you’re Alabama and the SEC and Commissioner Slive are just up the road in Birmingham, do you *think* anything is going to be done with that guy?

  • BamaBangCuzzins

The play was basically dead and should have been blown dead when forward progress stopped 2-3 seconds prior. What I enjoyed was Missouri offensive line retaliating by beating the dog crap out of him for the next two plays and the refs letting it go. Poor guy got whooped!
