Will Jim Tressel be returning to Ohio Stadium sooner than anyone expected?
If the players from Ohio State’s 2002 national championship team have it there way, their former coach will be there with them when they’re honored at this year’s season finale against Michigan.
“We would love to see Tress,” said former Buckeyes safety Mike Doss, who helped organize the 10-year reunion. “We know what we did as a team and a family unit.”
Tressel resigned in May 2011 in the wake of the OSU tattoo scandal. But Buckeyes AD Gene Smith said the school would allow “anyone associated with the team to be honored.” Tressel is currently the Vice President of Strategic Engagement for the University of Akron but is still a god in Columbus for winning a national title with the Buckeyes and going 9-1 against Michigan.
If The Vest is indeed on the field on Nov. 24, you can bet the cheers will be deafening.
