On Saturday, Ole Miss celebrated its first Egg Bowl win since 2008 when it defeated Mississippi State, 41–24, in front of an adoring home crowd. Among those who stormed the field after the Rebels’ win: Georgia high school defensive end Robert Nkemdiche, widely considered the top recruit in the land.
Nkemdiche was on the field at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium celebrating with his brother, Ole Miss LB Denzel Nkemdiche. If the elder Nkemdiche is to be believed, his younger brother will be joining him on the sidelines in Oxford next season.
“Robert told me personally, I don’t know if I’m supposed to say it, but he told me he’s committing in two weeks,” Denzel told reporters following Saturday’s game. “That’s just the honest truth. That’s what he told me and he wouldn’t lie to his brother.”
If Robert Nkemdiche ends up lying to his brother, it would be an appropriate twist in a recruitment that’s morphed into a soap opera after Nkemdiche recently decommitted from Clemson.
