One of Indiana coach Tom Crean’s tweets from this past Saturday demonstrated two things that recruits love to see in potential college basketball coaches: an ability to send players to the NBA and street cred.
Crean was photographed with two-time NBA champion Dwyane Wade — who he coached at Marquette from 2001–2003 — and rap star Young Jeezy.
ESPN.com’s Eamonn Brennan points out that Crean’s appearance with the latter has become a trend among college basketball coaches. South Carolina’s Frank Martin effusively praised Pitbull earlier this summer and attended a concert of his, Drake received his own Kentucky national title ring and Notre Dame’s Mike Brey snapped a picture with 2 Chainz last Monday.
For Crean, this almost makes up for his “accidental” creepy tweet from two and a half weeks ago.
