Steve Spurrier and Les Miles, watch your backs. You have competition in your battle to be the SEC Quote King.
And it’s a player from one of the conference’s new members.
Missouri wide receiver T.J. Moe, a preseason Biletnikoff Award candidate, jumped in with both feet at the SEC Media Days outside Birmingham yesterday.
Perhaps acknowledging how SEC fans and media outlets worship football like it’s a life-or-death matter, Moe had a lot of fun musing on a variety of topics.
Among them:
- How the SEC compares to other conferences: “They say girls are prettier here, air’s fresher and toilet paper is thicker” (via @McMurphyCBS)
- Mizzou’s place in the conference: We’re “the red-headed step child” (via @KyleTucker_CJ)
- The Media Days dress code: “Everybody wears a tie or sundress to games. Look at me. I wore a dri-fit polo to Big 12 Media Day last year.” (via @BW_Jones)
- The mood at Media Days: “It’s serious here. I wouldn’t be surprised if everybody was strapped with a gun here.” (via @jonsol)
That whooshing sound you hear is dozens of SEC reporters running off to their editors, begging them to cover Mizzou games this season.
