With his high-flying dunk on Wednesday night, Jacksonville College’s Daniel Skinner showed that he has Division I hops even though he’s playing junior college ball.
On a breakaway during Jacksonville’s game against Tyler Junior College, Skinner took off 13-14 feet away from the rim — you can see his left plant foot just inside the free throw line — and absolutely posterized the Apaches defender below him.
Two notable postscript items. One is that Skinner was actually called for a charge on the play, even though it looked like his helpless defender was shuffling his feet as Skinner flew over him. And Skinner’s highlight-worthy slam wasn’t enough to prevent Jacksonville from falling, 91–89, in overtime.
Still, it was a quite the Jordan-esque moment.
