If the video posted by YouTube user tyetanic on October 12 is true, the strongest kicking leg in Texas might belong to a football player not yet in high school.
14-year-old Blake Carter is an eighth grader from Midland, TX. In the video in question, one of his coaches puts the ball down on a placekicking tee. Carter then proceeds to split the uprights from 63 yards away.
At least the field goal was good by the way Carter, his teammates and coaches celebrate. The goalposts are not visible in the video. While we’re not implying that this video is a hoax, it would be helpful if Carter somehow did this again but with better camera work to document it.
If this is to be believed, the kick would equal the longest NFL field goal in league history held by Tom Dempsey, Jason Elam, Sebastian Janikowski and David Akers.
College coaches might soon be descending on West Texas to offer Carter a scholarship.
