As a player, former TCU tight end Kelly Blackwell displayed good dexterity for a 6′ 1″, 255-pounder. He’s been similarly versatile as a 15-year employee of Five Star Ford in his hometown of Richland, Texas.
Blackwell started out as a showroom salesman at the dealership in 1997 before moving to the Internet sales desk in 2000 — long before buying and selling cars online became standard practice. But as of February, Blackwell is still at Five Star and still enjoying his work in online sales.
With the Horned Frogs, Blackwell was a four-year lettermen, setting records for receptions in a season (64, achieved in both 1990 and 1991) and a career (181). After graduating, Blackwell spent two seasons in the NFL, one each with the Chicago Bears and Dallas Cowboys.
He was inducted into the TCU Lettermen’s Association Hall of Fame in 2001, his first year of eligibility.
