As if Clemson’s 51-14 humiliation at the hands of Florida State on Saturday wasn’t enough, QB Tajh Boyd and head coach Dabo Swinney had to spend part of their Tuesday press conference addressing an internet rumor that Boyd was $80,000 in debt from betting on NFL games.
“I don’t know where that came from,” Boyd told reporters of the story, which surfaced on the website IBN Sports Wrap. “I don’t watch much NFL. I don’t have (Sunday Ticket)… I only get 2 games.”
Swinney had a sense of humor about the report, saying that it “added to his beautiful Sunday.”
“I’m sure that was a pretty credible website you pulled that from,” Swinney said to a reporter. “That’s the world we live in unfortunately. Anybody can pretty much say what they want.”
