It appears that a close loss to Virginia Tech on Monday did nothing to detract some Georgia Tech supporters from bringing one of their traditions to Blacksburg.
Graham Watson of Yahoo! Sports says police have told the Roanoke News that a Yellow Jackets supporter made off with the “T” from the sign for Lane Stadium outside the ticket office.
Stealing the “T” started as a Georgia Tech tradition in 1969, when the first letter of the signage on Tech Tower was stolen by a group of fraternity brothers. It has since inspired copycat crimes on and off the school’s Atlanta campus.
Several Facebook users on the page “Only at Tech” point out that while a GT fan made off with a “T,” the Yellow Jackets did not get the “W.”
