Someone needs to tell Syracuse basketball coach Jim Boeheim it’s time to enter the 21st century.
“I don’t even know what [social media] is,” the 67-year-old coach told CBS Sports Network when asked about the subject. “It would be hard to address that, wouldn’t it? I have a cell phone, is that what you are talking about? I don’t have a computer or anything else.”
Boeheim is known for his dry sense of humor and it’s unclear if he’s being facetious with that goofy grin on his face. We’re sure he’s at least heard of social media but wouldn’t be surprised if he doesn’t own a computer and has never been on Facebook or Twitter. Kentucky head coach John Calipari admitted in August he doesn’t have a computer and Boeheim is 15 years older and as old school as they come.
But given that Syracuse point guard Scoop Jardine landed himself in hot water last season for tweeting that he and his teammates call groupies “team players,” Boeheim might want to catch on.
We’d tell the coach to Google the phrase but now we’re not so sure he knows what that is.
