An 0–10 season is no excuse for Southern Miss football not to show its support of our nation’s armed forces with flying colors.
For Saturday’s Military Appreciation Day game against UTEP, the Golden Eagles will take the field with helmets sporting a very patriotic design.
What sets Southern Miss’ helmet apart from the bevy of other USA-themed lids from the previous month or so is that the decal on either side is designed to resemble the stars-and-stripes itself. White stars are set on a blue background in the top left, while the rest is alternating red-and-white stripes.
At the very least, it’ll give Southern Miss fans something else to remember from this season besides the Golden Eagles’ putrid record and QB Anthony Alford’s mom getting arrested at a game. Grade: B+
