Some CMU Students Plan to Root for MSU

School spirit is an overrated concept to some students at Central Michigan.

When the Chippewas host intrastate rival Michigan State at Kelly/Shorts Stadium on Saturday, several CMU students will be there — cheering for the Spartans and wearing MSU gear instead of school colors.

“I grew up near East Lansing and that’s home to me,” CMU sophomore Anastash Franco told Central Michigan Life. “I was raised as a Spartan fan so that’s naturally who I root for.”

Franco’s rationale is a tenuous one. But it’s far more reasonable than the frontrunner attitude some of her fellow students take. Said junior Andrew Zelinkski, “State will win because they are a Big Ten team and we are a MAC team, so their program is better.”

We’re sure that Franco and Zelinski are both good people. But is anyone else with us in wanting to see them blacklisted from attending any future CMU football games?
