There was a practical purpose to how head coach Rich Rodriguez ended Arizona’s first two camps of the summer for recruits over the weekend with some slip slidin’ fun.
In treating his camp’s participants – and himself – to a Slip ‘n Slide, he was rewarding them for the work they put in. In addition, he was ensuring his campers’ sanctity in the unbearable Tucson heat. Saturday’s high was 105 degrees, while the needle hit 107 on Sunday.
If only RichRod had also gotten an ice cream truck to swing by, a la what Joker Phillips did at Kentucky last summer. That would’ve made for a truly “camp” experience.
