Iowa State forward Royce White will capitalize on his eye-opening March and declare for the NBA draft, according to CBSSports.com on Wednesday.
Citing a source, the report said that White has signed with an agent and is expected to make the announcement about his leap on Wednesday. He helped the Cyclones to the third round of the NCAA tournament when they beat Connecticut before losing to Kentucky.
White drew attention with 15 points and 13 rebounds against the Huskies. He was the best player on a court that included projected lottery picks Andre Drummond and Jeremy Lamb. He then collected 23 points, nine rebounds and four assists against talent-laden UK.
For the season, the 6-foot-8 White – who plays well with the ball, at times like a point forward – averaged 13.1 points, 9.2 rebounds and 5.1 assists.
CBSSports.com said that NBA executives project that White will go in the first round of June’s draft, most likely thanks to the exposure of his big March.
