One week after Penn State football announced that its players would have names on the back of their jerseys for the 2012 season, there’s now video documentation making it official.
Penn State athletics’ official YouTube channel, GoPSUTV, posted a video on Tuesday of an unknown equipment staffer laying out the letters for RB Michael Zordich’s home nameplate. The camera then cuts to a printing press-like device creating nameplates for five other players: RB Michael Mauti, DE Pete Massaro, LS Joe Marvin, DE C.J. Olaniyan and RB Zach Zwinak.
The absence of sound in the video is slightly annoying at first, but after a while we started to appreciate it. It’s not a moment to be celebrated so much as a moment to be acknowledged, a step away from the previous administration that erred so terribly. A puffed-up soundtrack would only cheapen this.
It’s hard not to get chills watching this.
