Texas A&M’s move to the SEC may have put a halt to the Aggies’ rivalry with Texas on the field. But off the field, it’s still very much alive.
On Sunday, students at the latter school woke up to find pro-A&M graffiti all around the Austin, TX, campus in Aggie colors, with most of it concentrated near Ionic Tower and the Flawn Academic Center.
Among the spray-painted slogans were:
- “Howdy”
- “Gig ‘em”
- “Farmer’s fight”
- “SEC”
- “Do you miss us yet?”
There is nothing quite like taking a 2 ½-hour road trip to engage in some childish mischief with an old conference rival. Consider it A&M’s way to keep the rivalry burning until it (hopefully) resumes at some point down the road.
There’s no doubt Texas A&M fans are feeling awful confident after a 6-2 start in the Aggies’ first season in the SEC while Texas head football coach Mack Brown is under fire for barely beating Kansas on Saturday.
