Los Angeles-area basketball fans eager to see a Gasol in action this fall now have their choice of two places: the Staples Center and Pauley Pavilion.
18-year-old Adria Gasol, whose brothers Pau and Marc both play in the NBA, intends to walk-on to the UCLA men’s basketball team after enrolling as a student at the school.
At 6-foot-10, Adria has his brothers’ height but lacks their development. Unlike Pau and Marc, the younger Gasol was not committed to basketball until recently, as evidenced by his failure to make the Spanish U-18 team last summer.
Nonetheless, the Bruins have nothing to lose. They are not using a scholarship on Adria, and if he can convince his brothers to stop by for an occasional workout with the Bruins’ big men, even better.
