New ASU Logo Raises Gang Concerns

We’ve stated from the beginning we aren’t a fan of Arizona State’s new “Fear the Fork” football uniforms, but there’s another problem with them you won’t believe.

An ASU alum and Chicago policeman Kenneth Epic was quoted in the Arizona Republic saying that he’s concerned a Chi-town gang called “the Satan Disciples” are going to start donning Arizona State clothing because of the similarities between logos of the two, raising concerns that others could be unintended victims of gang wars if they wear the new ASU gear.

Said ASU associate AD Steve Hank: “If they were to use it in that way, we would take all legal action to protect our mark.”

Call us crazy, but we don’t think threatening a gang with a lawsuit will help much.

    ASUcks anyways. sparkys a d*****

  • RollTide

wake me up when they beat an SEC team

I’m a Georgia student/fan, and as such, I have no bias whatsoever. Those uniforms are badass to the tenth power. Screw that gang and any negative publicity they bring. Keep those uniforms and destroy USC please.

I have watched the usually hapless SDSU Aztecs, for the past 31 years. (Thank goodness I graduated elsewhere). It’s bad enough to get one’s clock cleaned, wearing just a basic football uniform. But to go out dressed in supposedly “intimidating black” only to take a butt whuppin’ that would make even a redheaded stepchild, blush.
That’s not only ‘laugh out loud’ embarrassing. It’s actually “hang your head, hang your head in Shame!” humilitating.
So ASU opponents, you have something new to cheer. No longer will it be the simple fact that you can beat the Sun Devils at home. But by beating them in thier ‘scarey, intimidating Darth Vader threads’ you can not only gloat at their pathetic play, you can also Laugh at the utter stupidity of actually paying for those tacky new unis.
Po’ ole Frank is probably spinnin’ in his grave.

“ASU should be more concerned about the poor grammer and spelling in these responses than the design on the uniforms”

It’s grammar. And this is a period.

  • george

nice unifoms , fit right in with the gaudiness of oregon uniform except much more eye catching

  • Donny T.

Who really gives a crap what the uniforms look like? NCAA, NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, etc. It’s all about the money! There are much more important topics to debate. I can’t believe though that the AD at ASU is stupid enough to elude that ASU could possibly use a lawsuit to attempt to keep gangs from using the new ASU logo. What planet did this idiot gorw up on?

lets face facts there will be problems if this is the jersey. u dont want to think it will but thats how gangs think. stupid. some young kid in the right place at the wrong time could end up hurt. it is what it is.

  • judge

heck there are some places in certain cities you’ll get hurt going in certain areas with a blue new york yankees hat or a la dodgers hat on or even a red st. louis cardinal cap on. when i played in college our mascot was the braves and all heck was raised. you dont see florida state changing theirs nore atlanta braves or kc cheifs.

I am a former gang-member (GD’s), but now grown with 2 college degrees, married with children, the concern shouldn’t be the clothes but rather why young men and women are joining gangs. We need to stop pointing fingers at the clothes makers and start looking at our communities and what is missing in our childrens lives. The fork is side-ways on the helmet when it’s on and anybody could use it, from GD’s to Vice-Lords whose forks point downward, ASU’s uniforms are nice and I am a Michigan Man! but I remember going to Texas some years back and wearing my maize and blue Michigan gear and was greeted by a gang who wears the block M to represent them. People need to be educated to gang life and then work on assisting the community to correct families and save our children.

  • Eric

When all the gangs were picking colors, I’ll bet the bloods were so thrilled that they got red.

  • MEL

to the people thats not up on gangs. gang members let everyone know who they are by the color and the bandanas that hang from the back ockets, so yes, they do let everyone know who they are. and the forks are perfect for the latin disciples. that their logo.and just to let everyone know that uniform asu is going to use is down right ugly.

  • Expect a lawsuit from Lancaster County…

No way the Amish are going to let their pitchforks be used this way.
