UGA’s Awful Combat Unis Revealed

Nike has been busy this college football offseason changing every uniform it could get its hands on (i.e. Arizona State, Oklahoma State, Kentucky) but The Swoosh saved the best – and by best, we mean worst – for last.

Georgia’s Pro Combat Uniforms for its Sept. 3 opener vs. Boise State have been revealed on Nike’s website and the results are terrifying. Nike has replaced one of the best helmets (and uniforms) in college football with an abomination that looks straight out of “Playmakers”: Bright all-red uniforms with a black belt and sleeves combined with a silver helmet and a massive red stripe down the middle.

Yes, you read that correctly.

Just adding to the fiasco, Georgia had planned on giving a first glimpse of the uniforms on its Facebook page Saturday at noon but Nike scooped its own customer and released the unis on its own website.

Judging by the reactions on the Atlanta Journal-Constitutions website (“Those things are UGAlee.”), Bulldog fans aren’t thrilled with the results either.

While the “death penalty” is being discussed for Miami (FL) after massive alleged violations, may we motion for a Nike Pro Combat death sentence as well?

    I hope the uniforms don’t play the game. They are bad! Keep the old ones , and play the game like you want to win could care less how you look!!!!

    Whoever designs uniforms for NIKE should be hung by the n*** (i.e. Oregon, Miami, etc.) I thought Halloween only came once a year.

    First comes ‘Shock” since we are dealing with UGA football. Then comes “Why”? Then we are left with our own ‘Thoughts and Opinions”.
    I realize that they are not our traditional look. And the picture of the uniforms is fronted on a black background which intensifies the red in the uniform.
    I believe the look will be more appealing to our eyes after seeing them in the domed stadium against the green of the football field.
    Yes, we’ll have alumni’s, students, fans, prognosticators, faculty, sports writers, sports commentators and others complaining and yes, some praising the change and it may be very beneficial for our team on the field of play. We’ll see if it does help in a few days. At least the grass isn’t blue.
    But we have to say to ourselves, its only a football uniform.

    Nike is ruining college athletics with these procombat joke uniforms that show absolutely no class. Look what they did at Oregon, those uniforms are a complete joke.

    with all the cheating going on in college football this past year….. maybe the only changes to be made for ANY uniform is to add a tag that says… NOT FOR RESALE !!

    The game just started and saw the new Georgia uniforms for the first time……JUST UGLY! Its sad to see tradition being lost. It would be like the Yankees going away from the pin strips. If your going to change atleast come up with a good design. I would be embarrased if I played for Georgia.

    Is Nike’s next move to change the Georgia mascot from a bulldog to a Chihuahua.

    I hope they burn these uniforms and never let them out again. I am a Georgia Bulldog. Nike screwed up again with this one. Leave the weird bright colors for the Northwest Corner and stay out of the Southeast.

    i like the uniforms if you want to talk about ugly how about the throwback uniforms Iowa wore one game last year brown and sick yellow didnt know it was Iowa at first

    Helmets look great,little to much RED on the uniform… But all in all like the change for some games….Dawgs need to mix it up alittle..GO DAWGS!!!! BEWARE OF THE DAWG IN 2012!!!!
