Buckeye Fan Takes O-H-I-O to Grave

It’s a well-known fact that Ohio State fans are among the craziest – if not the craziest – in college football.

Having said that, nothing can prepare you for the image below of Buck Nuts spelling out O-H-I-O with the open casket of a life-long Ohio State fan as the “I.”

80-year old Roy Miracle of Newark, OH, passed away on July 1st and his family and friends decided. So what did his family and friends do? They decided to make him the “permanent I” while spelling out the state’s name with their arms, as is tradition.

The photo is now posted on the university’s official website under the “O-H-I-O” picture section with this message: “Long time fan who was always the ‘I-O’, is forever the permanent “I”. Roy Miracle was shown in an OSU turtle neck that he loved, and holding the position that he loved!”

Based on the web page, the woman directly next to the open casket with a giant smile on her face is Miracle’s daughter, Juli.

We’ve never seen anyone look that overjoyed next to an open casket but being the “permanent I” is probably what many Buckeye fans consider eternal happiness.

  • jjs

  • BAMA FAN

From one crazed fan to another….rest in peace and im so glad to see your family was able to remember your life the way u probably would have wanted them to…

  • buck-off

Normal; feel better now that you’ve confessed?????

    A**hole!!!!!!!!!!

  • Bucknut 1

Great! I’ll settle for a couple of game tickets tucked in my pocket for that great stadium in the sky.

  • Nottad

Perhaps before calling someone a loser, you could take five seconds to learn a bit about him- it would seem that he was a great man who served his country and community with kindness, beloved by all who knew him:

  • IHATEOSU

Pure lazyness. Take the joke the distance and raise his d*** arms.

  • Buckeye Carl

The “A**hole!!!!!!!!!!” comment is a real loser :-(

  • mike

that “H” looks awfully happy for a funeral…

  • Roy

To each his own I guess, Kinda nuts!

  • catman

    I LOVE IT GO BUCKS

  • Chuck

“Normal Person” must be a 1-9 michigan fan

  • john

why do ohio fans keep saying 9-1? Is that the only time period ohio has played michigan in football? anyways pretty sure the ncaa took away one of those wins. atleast have the decency to say 8-1 if you want to cite a time period that makes you feel good about yourselves

  • lovelife

Wow:) What a way to celebrate this man’s amazing life. I’m sure the joyful memories this scene brought loved ones helped them deal with this loss. So sorry for those of you who feel you must judge the “proper” way to grieve:/

  • Scarlet

    John,
We are just getting prepared for this years victory over Michigan. Unless the NCAA grants Michigan another unearned win over OSU. The NCAA just wanted to bring the Big 1 back to the Big 5 or 6.

  • CC

8-1 or 9-1…..whats the difference.. still mIcHiGaN Getting Its A** Kicked….
    GO BUCKS..

  • George

AS a guy that worked many funerals and saw much sadness and tears..this is the way to remember someone with joy for what they loved..I am sure they all had to suck it up, but when you think of it..its still the cleverest thing I have ever seen done and my daughter graduated from there. To each his own..if you don’t have something nice to saw..mind your own business. This was their way of honoring him…i am sure there were a lot of tears and laughter afterwards.

  • OC Alum

Buckeyes are the best d*** fans in the land. Thanks for the tears of joy Roy Miracle. RIP my Buckeye brother!

  • craig

john you and the ncaa can say 8-1 but everybody who watched that game all knows 37-7.

  • Bill

no john i watched all those games and have the newspapers from the day after, we won nine times. ncaa can’t take what i remember from me

  • krdave

    “Normal person” is anything but.

  • V-Dubya

    Now thats just weird

  • DemBuckeyez

I think I would like this photo done for me when I pass.

  • KrazyButKool

I think both fans should cool off the Michigan vs. tOSU debate on here and leave the fighting and cursing out. This is more about a family moment and an expression of love, so let’s leave it at that. It is hard to lose a loved one, so I can respect finding a way to remember the happy memories at such a sad time. Show some respect for the dead people!

  • Sure….

They worship the government and are ethnocentric (evidenced by the flags), they believe in imaginary creatures (the appear to be in a church), and they are doing some college football thing.

Wow! do you have any intelligent people in the Midwest? This picture is scary.

  • Ricky Leiderman

I can’t believe they didn’t stand his casket upright for the picture.

  • jack arnet

they all seem a lttle light in the head

  • jack arnet

they all seem a little crazy

  • http://Whoudini2@yahoo.com Now UF is a real team

We beat Ohio state in football and basketball for two national titles. I’ll send you one of my “Honk if you sacked Troy Smith” bumper stickers.

  • me

  • Brandon

From a lifelong Michigan fan………………this is pretty cool

Nebraska joins the Big Ten this year.

When the former Big 8 and Big 12 powerhouse plays Ohio State, we’ll see if the Big Ten is all that it’s cracked up to be.

You should see Nebraska’s schedule for their first year in the Big 10.

First game is a charity game with Western Tennessee State at Chatanooga or something.

    Then it’s Fresno State.

    Then it’s Washington.

Then a charity game with Wyoming.

Then it’s the bread and butter, creme de la creme of the Big 10.

    One brutal game after another.

Ohio State, Wisconsin, Penn State, Michigan, Michigan State, and more.

Finally, the one game no Omaha resident can ever stand to see Nebraska lose, Iowa.

You ain’t seen freaks and fanatics until you see the Iowa and Nebraska National Guards lined up on each side of the river, fully armed with artillery and small arms, waiting for the kick off.

This year we’re all going to discover if the Big 10 is all that or overrated or if the Big 12 is all that or overrated.

Nebraska has to have the toughest schedule in NCAA Division I this year.

Every time I look at our football schedule hanging on my cupboard, all I feel is pain.

Trent James (TJ) Stewart, hero of Omaha, Nebraska.

    RIP !!

All of you have missed the real happiness. You see the cross in the picture. It is the reason these people can smile. The body in the casket is just the body. His soul is in heaven and his family knows that they will be with him when they pass or when the earth passes when Christ returns. Know Christ, know happiness even in earthly sadness.
