Bo Pelini Lands in Urban Dictionary

Bo Pelini’s infamous temper has landed him a place in the extremely popular Urban Dictionary, but we doubt the Nebraska head coach is flattered.

Check out the definition: “A violent rage that cannot be controlled, often expressed in Tourette’s-like cursing accompanied with demonic facial contortions. An angry sense of entitlement that will cause you to treat anyone around you with contempt and physical brutality, including game officials, innocent cameramen or possibly your own team.”

Gee, that sounds a lot like last fall’s Texas A&M game. We wonder if Cornhusker QB Taylor Martinez was behind this entry.

Will a spot in the Merriam-Webster Dictionary be next?

  • ThatsRight

I bet next time Taylor goes to the locker room for x-rays he stays with the training staff the entire time. Wondering off to a different locker room without the trainers knowing about it then texting your father during the game which is an NCAA violation will get your a** chewed every time.

  • tom

ok…I looked it up along with the word used in a sentence…they could of done better.

  • HuskerAZ

yea, i think he learned hi lesson, but he didnt text, he called his dad back after seeing a missed call from him. and i never heard that it was a NCAA violation

  • DJ

It’s against team rules. Enough said.

  • BetterRED

its not an NCAA violation, its a team rule violation! I heard anywhere from him calling/texting his Dad to playing games on his phone when the training staff was trying to work with him….

  • Andy P

    Thatsright..

umm.. While accepting or making a phone call to parents (or anyone for that matter) during a game in the lockeroom is forbidden by team rules it is not anything close to an NCAA violation. The NCAA has some very strange rules but talking to your own parents on the phone during a game is not one of them! 99.9% of NCAA rules are to in place to ensure that athletes get no extra benefits. What is the extra benefit that Taylor got by making that phone call?? Why no reaction or sanctions, even a reprimand from the NCAA if it is a violation??????

  • Teddy

As a player you can’t use electronic devices 1 hour before a game during a game or am hour after a game. That is a violation.

  • NoDoze

    Andy P

How would you know if a player is talking to their parents or a bookmaker. As Teddy said, “a player you can’t use electronic devices 1 hour before a game during a game or am hour after a game”. That is a violation.

  • Holy Sooner

Lordy the Big 10 is Welcome to him and his cheatin’ ways.

New Subject: How long do you say it will be before Allbarn U is stripped of their title and given a heavy sanction? I say 3 years max (since it took so long at USC).

New Subect 2: Is the NCAA through with Oregon?

  • Big Red

Even Junior High coaches yell and curse, so quit whining about Bo being a MAN and not taking the 14-2 penalty “discrepancy” from the refs. Did Lombardi get smeared by sports papparazzi for yelling like a normal coach???

  • Nodoze

Show me the sanction or reprimand by the NCAA for said rule. There isn’t one!

  • brlrdr

Too bad the idiot Harvey Perleman did not stand behind Bo…Texas f**** cheated end of story…..Bo had every right to act this way and any of you wimps p**** that are democrats and love obama oohhh dont hurt anyones feelings…stand up and be a man…..Bo is a man texas am referees were a bunch of (&(^*^c cheats…..its too bad the game could not have been played fair and square and not 50 dollar bills stuffed in the refs pockets

  • Solly

Maybe the single lamest attempt at a humorous editorial I’ve ever read.

    Well done, Zippy.

  • Rusty

He was sticking up for his team that was getting ripped off, i support that! Now could he have done it in a better manner, sure. But, i bet he will next time. I must admit some of my comments during the ref’s in that game were out of character for me too, and he has built a relationship with these folks. As far as yelling, he is a father to many of these players, I know my dad raised his voice to me when he thought I needed it!..

  • Jamesb

I see the “Children of the Corn” – or more likely wannabes working at the carwash down the street from N.U. are STILL WHINING about the Texas game.

Ya, the’09 Title game loss, not the ’10 league game – or any of the 9 losses to Texas out of the 10 games played. If Texas/NU was a softball game it would be run-ruled over. LOL!

Dude, the ball HIT out-of-bounds with TIME ON THE CLOCK. Dead ball clock stoppage – 2 ticks left, FG GOOOOOD! Horns WIN! HA HA HA HA!

  • Huskers in 2011

@brlrdr, WOW!!!! How did this become a b**** about Our President? Just WOW man!!!! Any Ways, yeah, we got the shaft in that A&M game, but the bottom line is, we still should have and could have won that game. and it was a 16-2 penalty discrepancy, I am over it, let’s up that so are the Huskers, Coach included…. GBR!!!!

  • Dan

Bottom line….we got screwed by the refs (i.e. as directed by the Big 12 & Beebe) in the TAM game. No doubt about it. Bo had his teams’ back all the way. Anyone not seeing that…what would you have done. Smiled?

  • Boxer

Hahahaha, so many devastated husker losers in here. Deal with it, your coach is a joke. Always has been, always will be. Even “the Pirate” gets more respect around the nation than Bo.

  • Vegas Husker

Ever notice how Texans are always reading Husker posts and stories LOL.
Lets get this back on track.. It is against NCAA rules to be on a phone or any mobile device.. Same rule even is in effect in the NFL.. Too many implications by using mass media devices or a phone.. Your playing a game no need to talk to daddy or a bookie or your agent. Bo has a temper and even though a little over board some times in almost every case its for a good reason. GBR!

  • Tigers Rule

Oh well, those classy Husker fans followed the example of their classy coach Blo, and threatened the lives of the Big 12 office personnel to the point that they wouldn’t attend the final game.

Way to go Classy Holer fans!

  • Huskers in 2011

Tigers Rule, I guess it truly shows who on here has class now doesn’t. Go ahead and bow down to your big Bevo-Daddy’s as they will control everything your school will do until the Big 12(haha) dissolves because of Hook ‘ems greed.

  • HuskaFreak

“Oh well, those classy Husker fans followed the example of their classy coach Blo, and threatened the lives of the Big 12 office personnel to the point that they wouldn’t attend the final game.

Way to go Classy Holer fans!”

Why does this post crack me up, running us down for our lack of class as he just posts calling us and our coach names. Isn’t it funny how the acts of the few can taint the look of the many, how many husker fans do you actually think threatened beebe, and how many of us just pulled our hats down went to work the next day and new in just a month or two we would be done with the big 12?? Fact is Bo lost his cool which I would of too the way the refs were being and then having a player who should know better screw up he apologized end of story.
Ill stand behind a coach that took a team that callahan destroyed and made them great!! Many of them being the same players callahan couldnt coach out of a paper bag and made them one of the most desruptive defenses in the big 12. Granted our offense has been bad and thats the only down fall i can point out when we clicked offensively and defensively we tore people up. We will get it back and when we do watch out Im excited for the big 10 and what it has to offer our school and appreciate the great games and history we made in the Big 12!! GBR!!!!

    who cares its just nebraska

  • Californians for Nebraska

The 25 thousand Californians for Nebraska care about Nebraska. Who cares about your team?

  • Chicago Mike

Nebraska has the most knowledgeable and passionate college football fans I have ever seen. When NU played at ND, there were more Husker red in the stands than green. Welcome to the big ten, where refs don’t call 16-2 penalty bias games. I saw the Tx A&M game on TV. Shocking calls is all I can say. I became a Bo fan that night. Knute, Halas, Bryant, Ditka, and Lombardi would be proud of Peneilli’s old school coaching ways. I view U-Tx the same way I view the Yankees. Great school and team, but they are gifted to have so much money and all the recruits they need in their backyard. You gotta love the Nebraska’s, Boise State’s, Hawaii’s, etc that are competitive every year without a major recruit base population. Can’t wait for CF to start. Again welcome the B1G, Nebraska, can’t wait to see my NW Cat’s in Lincoln, should be a great game.

    Personal Fouls: 6
    False Starts: 3
    Illegal Formation 2

11 avoidable penalities means poor coaching. Don’t let revisionist history cloud your judgement. Enjoy getting ‘screwed’ by the refs in the Big10 cornholes.

  • Huskerfrog

I’ve never seen a Husker student section cleared out by police (Colorado), I’ve never seen over 10 husker fans arrested and escorted out of stadium (Mizzou), I’ve never seen husker fans boo their own team during a rough season (UT), I’ve never seen a Husker coach lock a player in an equipment shed (T Tech), I’ve never heard of a visiting fan having their car keyed or plates stollen in Lincoln (Colorado), I’ve never seen husker fans through snowballs packed with batteries at bench players (Colorado).

  • HuskerDeuce

@joke personal fouls? of the 6 how many should have been called on A&M?
How many other fouls should have been called on A&M? Too many to count.I know that the refs are not going to call them all but a 16-2 penality difference between the teams shows that the refs were only watching 1 team to call the fouls.

  • Jo

@huskerfrog I’m a Husker fan but don’t try to say that we have never booed our own team apparently you forgot the Callahan era. I question Husker fans as being the best in the country. I’m sorry husker fans are not all good old boys who are innocent. Are coach is bat sh** crazy if you haven’t noticed.

  • HuskaFreak

Really during the Callahan era I dont think the fans booed the team I think they booed the moron at the helm. Honestly I think they booed cosgrove more then anyone that guy couldnt coach a defense at all, the talent we had and he couldnt do a thing with them. Many of them kids were still playing for us when Bo took over and look what he did with the D. Now as far as ” Are coach is bat sh** crazy if you haven’t noticed.” Which I think you meant Our coach but anyways if you watch any other games on any given saturday every coach is animated on the sideline just our coach is a bit more famous for it so he gets more camera face time.

  • Btheman

All you A&M fans are AHOLERS, and they have (redacted), they like to grab the opponents junk while they are in on a tackle. Our coach mybe batSH** crazy but he doesnt teach nut grabbing as a technique to tackle a person.

  • N Hart

I think Bo does a Hell of a job. The defense has won many games by themselves. Offense needs to perfect the screen game. Attention Rex Burkhead catch the d*** football. Short passing game is the key. Martinez, short and accurate. Its up to the receivers to get the yards.

  • Huskerthom

I relate perfectly to Bo. Anyone who has ever coached succesfully does. Ths only difference is whether you are a press favorite or not. ESPN has chosen to put there chips behind Texass. So anyone who challenges them is attacked so as to not upset there investment. This kind of thing happens every weekend. It is a matter of how it is covered.

When I coached football and a reporter wrote a two page article about how my team did not deserve to be in the final game. Then had the nerve to try and stan on our sideline during the game. I asked him to leave. He told me, “I have a right to be here.” So I had a right to run a sweep with my fullback at him and his cameras.” He moved to the other sideline.

Point being when someone threatens your team you do become like a parent. That includes, yelling at your teenage son when you think he steps out of line. Not only would I not mind sending my son to play for Bo. I would be happy that he was not going to a Miami circa mid 80s. Where your kid is going to be in an environment of priviledge and illegality.
