School pride is a powerful thing, capable of spilling over into nearby states. That was evidenced by a bizarre theft reported in Lexington, KY, last Friday.
A 52-year-old woman told Lexington County officers upon their arrival that her Ohio State flag had been stolen from her porch. It had been replaced with one from, of all schools, South Carolina.
Tenessa Jennings of the Lexington News says the woman wondered if the incident was racially motivated, but officers advised her that it was likely nothing more than a prank.
Perhaps the theft is the mischievous handiwork of a Gamecocks fan who wants to remind the Buckeyes fan of those “devastating” Outback Bowl losses that South Carolina dealt Ohio State in 2001 and 2002.
