With temperatures in Miami predicted to go as high as 80 degrees before Monday’s BCS title game, Alabama worked with uniform provider Nike to ensure that the Tide doesn’t wilt in the South Florida humidity.
‘Bama’s new uniforms for the game will include Nike Chain Maille Mesh. A press release from the Swoosh says it’s a “lightweight, ultra-breathable material that emphasizes improved thermoregulation.” The mesh design runs beneath the nameplate, along the small of the players’ backs and level with the armpits.
Tide players will also wear a new Nike Pro Combat Hypercool Speed Top that “transports moisture and sweat from the skin to the outside of the top, leaving the body cool and dry.”
It’s a real concern that Alabama is addressing with this emphasis on ultra-cool clothing. Hopefully they’re spending as much time addressing how to beat back the heat sure to be put on by Notre Dame’s suffocating defense.
