As if the rest of the college basketball world didn’t already have enough envy-driven reasons to dislike John Calipari and Kentucky.
In a video posted to his website on Friday, Coach Cal introduced the world to the plush Wildcat Coal Lodge, a $7 million privately funded dormitory located directly across from the Wildcats’ practice facility for basketball players and some wildly lucky regular students. It looks like something straight out of the MTV show about celebrity homes, “Cribs.”
Among the features pointed out by Yahoo! Sports’ Jeff Eisenberg: flat screens placed throughout the dorm with player itineraries, a pool table, a private chef and a trophy case with UK’s eight national championship trophies (our personal favorite touch).
How in the world is this compliant with NCAA rules? Because some lucky non-student athletes will also live in the building. If Kentucky gets a record number of applications in the next few years, we might know why.
