It turns out that the “Support Our Troops” jerseys that Oregon wore in its spring game served a higher purpose.
Last week, the Ducks’ Instagram account shared a photo of members of the National Guard — who were among the approximately 100 uniformed men and women representing all branches of the military that were presented with the jerseys following the Oregon spring game — sporting the threads. No offense to the Ducks’ players, but they look even better on the National Guardsmen.
However, we doubt that anyone about to face active combat overseas would wear these. The bright neon that Oregon is famous for is the last thing one should be wearing in a combat zone.
