When Florida head coach Will Muschamp caught word of Oklahoma counterpart Bob Stoops’ less-than-favorable opinion of the SEC — in which the Sooners coach stated his belief that the SEC’s dominance of college football is “propaganda” — he didn’t get angry.
If anything, Muschamp came across as empathetic in his response.
“I’d be saying the same thing if I were in the Big 12,” he told Jason Lieser of the Palm Beach Post. “I said it for three years.”
Indeed, Muschamp spent three years as the defensive coordinator (and later “head coach in waiting”) at Texas. It wasn’t too long ago that he, like Stoops, was in denial of the SEC-centric state of college football.
