One would think that the state cops who usher head coaches to midfield for postgame handshakes maintain a solemn neutrality throughout the whole process. The conclusion of Wednesday night’s Sugar Bowl debunked that assumption.
Following Louisville’s 33–23 upset of Florida, Cardinals coach Charlie Strong exchanged a hug with the Gators’ Will Muschamp. Immediately after they parted ways, the cop assigned to Muschamp hilariously gave Strong a high five.
The best possible explanation we can think of is that the cop has been previously assigned to Florida games and was friendly with Strong during the eight years that the latter was a Gators assistant.
Nonetheless, it’s a ballsy move to pull in front of a coach as intense as Muschamp.
