In No. 3 Michigan’s 79–72 victory over No. 18 NC State on Tuesday, Wolverines starting forward Jordan Morgan chipped in six points, three rebounds, a block and a nice tip-in off a missed basket.
Alas, the lattermost was by accident. And on his own hoop.
With Michigan leading the visiting Wolfpack, 34–27, late in the first half, NC State’s T.J. Warren missed a short jumper from just outside the paint. Morgan went up to collect the rebound, only to have the ball glance off his fingertips, off the glass and through the net.
As if that wasn’t embarrassing enough, the ball bounced squarely off the top of Morgan’s head after passing through the net while he looked down at his hands in temporary humiliation.
Even the highest ranked of college basketball teams are susceptible to goofs every now and then. This one will make for a good laugh the next time the Wolverines have a team meeting, for sure.
