Mathieu Hopes for 2013 Return to LSU

When it comes to LSU, the Honey Badger does care.

Three days after being dismissed from the Tigers program by head coach Les Miles, LSU sources tell ESPN’s Joe Schad that cornerback Tyrann Mathieu says that he would be willing to sit out the 2012 season and enroll in classes at LSU with hopes of returning to the team in 2013.

Mathieu cites the “support system” of LSU for his primary reason for wanting to remain in Baton Rouge. Schad says he has been described as “heartbroken” and “grieving” since his dismissal from the team.

The cornerback’s desire to repent is an expected reaction to his rapid fall from grace. If he truly wants to be a Tiger again, his next step will be controlling the “Honey Badger” alter ego that got him into trouble in the first place.

LOOK I HAVE BEEN ONE THAT IS STRICTLY AGAINST THE “DEATH SENT”  ON THIS YOUNG MAN!!!  YOU NEVER HELP A GUY OR GIRL BY WALKING ALL OVER THEM AND COMPLETELY KILLING THEM IN THEIR OWN BED.. I SAID HOW I WOULD HANDLE IT AND I BELIEVE THAT I AM RIGHT, HOW WOULD YOU LIKE TO HAVE JESUS TREAT YOU IN THE SAME WAY, JESUS FORGIVES US, YES I MEAN YOU, YOU ARE A MUCH WORSE SINNER THAN THIS KID, WE ALL ARE!!!  JESUS FORGIVES, AND FORGIVES, AND FORGIVES OVER AND OVER!  WE WOULD ALL GO TO HELL IF HE DID NOT FORGIVE, THERE IS NOT BUT ONE SIN THAT THE FATHER WILL NOT FORGIVE,  THAT SIN IS TO DENY CHRIST!!!  T MATHIEU DID NOT DENEY CHRIST!!!  GIVE HIM A CHANCE TO COME BACK AND PUNISH INSIDE DO NOT XAFY +++ HIM!!!  THANKS AND GOD BLESS, johnmulliniks@bellsouth.net  maranatha!!!

      What a d**che.

Do you know why he was kicked off the team?  It was cited that it’s for multiple offenses.  I don’t know about you, but just how many chances should he get?  As long as he doesn’t deny Christ, then any other sin he commits should be forgiven and forgotten?  Assault, Theft, Murder, Rape???  Where do you draw the line?

He’s had multiple chances.  And this is FAR from a “Death Sentence”…he got kicked off a football team.  The sun will still rise for him tomorrow and his life will go on….just not as an LSU Tiger football player.  He took it for granted and has now lost that privilege.  Maybe now he’ll learn a little humility and have more respect for rules and authority…and lose that entitlement mentality.

      • Coach T

well thank GOD that Les Miles and the governing body are willing to allow this young man to return back to LSU as a student first and then perhaps later as an student athlete. Please relax Buck its not that serious.

  • Derekrose

    That is a mistake

  • karplum

let me get this straight, you can now do drugs in college and after two or three times you may get kicked off your team? and we wonder how a Penn State can happen? it is sad that a person will not adhere to what he/she has been ask to do, but how many times do you get a do-over?

The best thing Coach Miles could do for Tyrann is to tell him to spend the next year being a regular student out of the limelight, focusing on his course work. If he is able to have perfect attendance, increase his GPA and stay out of trouble, he could then be considered for re-admittance to the team.

  • Stardaz1

I agree with Isiah.  I hope he stays at LSU.  He is a great player.  I am a hugh Alabama fan but admire the LSU team and coaches.  He should be able to stay at LSU.

  • Honeybadgerwatch

He never asked to be the “Honeybadger” a coach started that, it then took on a life of it’s own. A LSU coaching staff member created that mystique, Mathieu just plays ball. Having said that, it doesn’t excuse the “Pot” he was smoking. I believe that the “Mystique” was becoming to large for Les Moles’ comfort zone – heck they hadn’t even put together a Heisman campaign for this kid for the upcoming season. I call BS on this whole matter, the Pot’s just an excuse to to run him off LSU’s campus.

It’s the why I demand as a member of the Alumni Association.

I totally disagree with the  comment made by “Honeybadgerwatch”….I do not think that the LSU coaching staff feels that Ty Mathieu’s  ” Mystique” was a problem for the coaching staff ….much less for Coach Miles !! Come on man !!!   This is not a popularity contest between the players and the coaching staff!!!
Why in the world would a coach be willing to dismiss such a talented young man that can and has contributed a great deal to the LSU footbal program, unless he has continued to break school and team rules !! The fact that ANYONE would think that his dismissal was over petty jealousy is the single most outrageous comment I have read since his dismissal. Please get your facts straight!!! Or don’t make comments that make you appear totally out in left field!! We do not need to defend the Badger by dumping on the coaching staff!! I am in support of the Badger on many levels. I support him as a very gifted and talented player, as a person, as a man, and as a fellow human being…but let’s face it …he made serious judgement errors and dug himself into this controversy. Is the punishment too severe….that is not for me to say…just accept and be sadden that it even occurred. I am also in favor of  LSU  and the coaching staff commitment to teaching  these young men about discipline,self-respect,Honor and the meaning of loyalty to one’s self, their teammates, and the program that has given these athletes the opportunity to get an  Outstanding education and a College degree on a full scholarship!!  Because of these “gifts and opportunities these athletes have the opportunity to make it into the NFL and reap even more rewards. There are penalties and rewards for the decisions we make in life, and at this point in these young men’s life  it is  also important that the same effort they put out on that field …is the same effort that they need to place in their own personal lives and behavior.  As an LSU Alumni I support my University, it takes a great deal of courage to do the correct thing.

  • Tiger Cub

I think he  should stay at LSU because I am 9 years old and he made footall more exciting than ever for me.  I am a TIGER and will always be even though I live in Oregon.  You go Honey Badger!  You can do it. lsu!!!!!!!
