Apparently this is the offseason for college football head coaches to show off their manhood.
After Vanderbilt’s James Franklin went cliff jumping and Western Michigan’s P.J. Fleck walked over hot coals, video has surfaced of Louisiana head coach Mark Hudspeth ripping off 25 repetitions of the bench press at 225 pounds.
That’s the weight used at the NFL combine. To put those 25 reps in perspective, the No. 1 overall pick in in the 2013 NFL Draft, former Central Michigan left tackle Eric Fisher, did 27 reps in Indianapolis last February. A former college safety and quarterback, Hudspeth is twice as old as Fisher at the age of 44.
Talk about motivation for his players: You don’t want to get shown up in the weight room by your own head coach.
