Texas head coach Mack Brown doesn’t take too kindly to opponents mocking his school. So much so that he thinks the upside-down “Hook ‘Em Horns” hand gesture is offensive enough that opponents should be prohibited from flashing it.
“The horns down is disrespectful,” he said on Monday. “We ought to talk about that as a league.”
It’s common for teams that have defeated Texas to flash ‘Horns Down,’ as West Virginia QB Geno Smith demonstrated earlier this season. We’re probably not alone in thinking Mack Brown is ridiculous for trying to ban it.
Perhaps if someone pointed out to him that America might also find it offensive when he flips an ESPN audience the bird, he’ll let the matter rest.
