Pizza Boy Criticizes OSU ‘D’, Gets Fired

Despite being 6-0 and ranked No. 8 in the country, Ohio State fans are frustrated with their struggling defensive unit this season. Vocalizing that chagrin to the wrong person cost one pizza delivery boy his job.

A 25-year-old Columbus State student that did not want to be identified says he took an order from the wife of Ohio State defensive coordinator Luke Fickell prior to the Ohio State-Michigan State game on Sept. 29. According to the student, he joked that Ohio State needed to tackle better before hanging up the phone, to which Amy Fickell laughed.

The next day, the student found himself without a job.

According to the pizza boy, Amy Fickell called up the restaurant and complained, which resulted in his dismissal. Ohio State refuted that claim in a statement: “The manager found out about the incident. The manager called the Fickells. Just like they did not place a call to complain, they also did not ask that anyone be fired. All they did was order pizza.”

The only thing that’s clear is that one Columbus, OH, pizza boy is currently out of a job and that the Buckeyes currently rank 60th in the country in total defense (386.5 YPG allowed) after allowing 38 points to Nebraska last Saturday.

Makes jokes about the OSU defensive unit at your own peril.

      Funny a school on probation thinks other schools are jealous and inferior. I wish the Suckeyes could play my team (Bama) and get stomped on national tv. But then again urban would have a ” nervous breakdown ” & fickle would get his job back

        Roll Tide, Rockhold18!  I didn’t want to be responsible for Urban’s health by adding that I’m a Tide fan, too.  That was beside the point, in this case.  This could be the Thank You, Rita moment for Ohio State fans.

    It is amazing that the more Ohio State wins the more the other schools go out of their way to whine.   Anything that has to do with OSU is blown totally out of proportion.  Amy Fickell did not try to get the kid fired.  If he was fired it was because he was out of line and it was the pizza shops decision. Kimberly Clements you do not even know Amy Fickell.  When you name call someone you don’t know it destroys your credibility.  You come off sounding like just another whiny butt hurt fan.  Waaaahhhhh somebody from Ohio State was mean to the pizza delivery boy.

      May your team lose for the rest of the year. Poor pizza guy lost his job and ability to pay bills and you blame him for making a true football remark. He probably said it because he is a fan. Your Mrs. fickell is a big ‘ol jerk, just like the pizza manager and you.

    It seems unlikely to me that he would have been fired if there were no complaint.  You have to with the obvious. No defense leads to thin skin.

    The employee crossed a line when he made his remarks. No call to complain was made to the employer. The Fickells were contacted by the pizza shop to verify what had happened. It would appear the delivery guy told his coworkers what he did and is paying the price for it. Even if the customer did complain, he deserves to lose his job. Employees do not disrespect the customers they serve!

    You gotta be kidding me…..a 25 year old pizza BOY says he was trying to spark up a friendly conversation and does so by criticizing the job of her husband…..what a dumbass…the moron deserved what he got.  I’m sure the “Einstein of Pizza Delivery” will find another job and be comfortably delivering pizza’s for the next 10 or 20 years.
