LSU’s Les Miles Also Crazy Driving Coach

Les Miles has left quite an impression at LSU. Everything from his press conference announcing that he was not interested in the Michigan job to his in-game sampling of the Tiger Stadium turf.

Add “driving coach” to the areas of Miles’ life that he approaches unconventionally.

Appearing on ESPN2’s “The Dan LeBatard Show” on Monday, Miles described a car ride he took with his daughter, Kathryn, over the Mississippi River bridge in Baton Rouge. Better known as “Smacker,” Kathryn is a rising high school senior that the Tigers head man felt is still in need of driving tips.

“We’re crossing the bridge way up in the air and I took an open bottle of water and threw it at her, drenched her,” Miles said.

“She’s saying, ‘Now what was that about, Dad.’ (I said) ‘What that was about was you understanding, what you have to do, is not worry about what’s going on in the perimeter when you drive us across this bridge.’ ”

Of course, there’s a difference between blocking out distractions and having someone impair your driving ability but Miles couldn’t seem to differentiate the two.

It appears that Miles has taken his parenting lessons from George Bluth, Sr. of “Arrested Development.” Let’s hope that Miles isn’t planning on using a one-armed man to frighten his daughter into good behavior.

But we wouldn’t put it past him.
