La Salle’s Tyrone Garland was both excited and at no loss for words after his layup with 2.5 seconds left proved the difference in a 76–74 win over Ole Miss that sent the Explorers to the Sweet Sixteen.
“That’s the Southwest Philly Floater, man,” Garland told Turner’s Craig Sager when asked what he called his shot. “Shout out to my cousin Bern, shout out to my mom … all y’all man. We out here, Southwest!”
For Sager, this hilarious moment had to immediately transport him back to his “Queensbridge interview” with Ron Artest in 2010. Also worth mentioning is the significant number of people on Twitter who pointed out the uncanny resemblance between Garland and actor Kel Mitchell in the 1997 movie, Good Burger.
March Madness just found itself a new cult hero.
