Normally, costumed mascots are less dangerous than the creatures they portray. At Kansas State, it’s a different story.
The school’s mascot, Willie the Wildcat, was recently hired to appear at a birthday party. While doing the “K-S-U! Wildcats!” chant, he accidentally kicked a small child standing behind him in the head during the “S” part of the cheer.
In spite of Willie’s costumed head being devoid of emotion, you could tell that the person dressed up as him felt awful. Willie eventually did the full cheer, but only after telling the other children to stand clear of him.
Don’t be surprised if the boy he kicked grows up to be a Kansas Jayhawks fan.
