It appears the feel-good story of the college football offseason has finally come to an end as former LSU women’s soccer star Mo Isom has failed to make the Tigers’ football team for the second time.
Isom initially tried to make the squad in March as a kickoff specialist but didn’t make the cut. The former LSU goalie and homecoming queen was trying to become the first female SEC football player ever and had become a national celebrity with an appearance on the talk show “Ellen” and profiles chronicling all the adversity she has overcome in her life.
Isom tried out again this week but apparently got bad news a second time from head coach Les Miles, as she tweeted this out on Friday afternoon:
I am heartbroken, but my head is held high. Knowing I gave everything I had is the greatest victory. Unending thanks to my LSU football fam.

On the bright side, Kansas and Texas A&M are still looking for students who can fill their rosters as kickers, so there’s still hope for Isom if she is willing to change schools to chase her dream.
