Former Penn State WR and 11-year NFL veteran Joe Jurevicius is a Clevelander through and through. He starred at Lake Catholic High School in nearby Mentor prior to moving on to State College and spent the final three seasons of his playing career with his hometown Browns.
Now 38, Jurevicius remains in northeast Ohio, where he recently partnered with two friends to open up a series of laundry mats in low-income neighborhoods. There are five “Spins” laundry mats so far, with plans to eventually open up a dozen in total.
“They are in the cities and they are in areas that are in desperate need of laundry mats,” Jurevicius told Buccaneers.com in December. “A lot of the laundry mats that we target, they’re dilapidated, and people are taking advantage of others. These are not your typical mom-and-pop laundry mats. We’re literally bringing a high-end product to an area that deserves it.”
During his NFL career, Jurevicious was a member of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ Super Bowl XXXVII-winning team and also reached two other Super Bowls (XXXV in 2001 with the Giants and XL in 2006 with the Seahawks). It was a continuation of his similarly successful four years at Penn State, during which the Nittany Lions went 41–8 and Jurevicius earned Second Team All-Big Ten honors in 1997.
