Fan Wears Gruden Mask at Neyland Grave

A collection of Tennessee fans showed that they had reached their breaking point with current coach Derek Dooley when they took to UT’s Rock two weeks ago and asked for his firing.

Now, Vols Nation has shifted its collective zealotry to voicing its support for whom they feel should be Dooley’s replacement: Jon Gruden, the former Super Bowl-winning coach who began his coaching career in 1986 as a Tennessee graduate assistant.

First, the harmless stuff. Earlier on Thursday, the URL “HireJonGruden.com” started automatically directing internet users to the University of Tennessee’s athletics website (that has since been disabled). In addition, Gruden’s Wikipedia page has been hacked several times over the past day to read that he’s already become the Vols’ coach.

Then there’s the creepy stuff. A Vols fan wearing a Gruden mask traveled to the grave of legendary UT coach Robert Neyland, for whom Tennessee’s stadium is named. He then proceeded to snap a picture of himself wearing the mask while hovering over Neyland’s grave, which also had a mask on it.

Health officials should really check the Knoxville water supply to make sure it hasn’t been spiked with something.
