It’s a college basketball edition of “Mr. Popper’s Penguins.”
On Wednesday, former UConn men’s basketball coach Jim Calhoun spent part of his day doing a video shoot in Storrs with two penguins, named Blue-Blue and Green-Blue. Seeing the 70-year-old Calhoun staring at the birds as they walk around the table at which he sits is one of the funnier images we’ve stumbled upon in a while.
Belying his curmudgeonly reputation, Calhoun was doing the shoot willingly. He is a trustee of the Mystic Aquarium, where the penguins are from and which is an hour’s drive from UConn’s campus. The promotional video will be shown on the big board at UConn home games this season.
Jim Calhoun, Maritime Animal Lover. It has a nice ring to it.
