In JaMarcus Russell’s mind, there’s still time to salvage his reputation.
Widely considered one of the biggest NFL draft busts in history – if not the biggest ever – the former LSU star quarterback is attempting a comeback more than three years after taking his last snap with the Oakland Raiders, who selected him with the No. 1 overall pick in 2007.
Step One for Russell will be to round himself into not just into playing shape but good shape in general. At the moment, he reportedly weighs 308 pounds.
It won’t be for lack of support if Russell fails to land on an NFL roster for next season. In addition to training with Brian Martin of TEST Football Academy, the 27-year-old will be working with former NFL QB Jeff Garcia (quarterback technique training) and former Olympic sprinter Ato Boldon (speed training and analysis), among other experts.
