Is the same local department store that first unveiled the wacky throwback uniforms that Iowa wore against Iowa State last week doing the same for the Hawkeyes’ Veterans Day ensemble?
Scheels, a sporting goods store in the Iowa City suburb of Coralville, is currently displaying the uniform that Iowa is rumored to wear on Nov. 10 against Purdue. Emphasis on rumored.
In an interview with the Big Ten Network’s Brent Yarina, Iowa SID Matt Weitzel warns, “I’m not 100 percent sure, but I’m thinking they will look different than that.”
Other rumored additions to what Iowa will wear include gray helmets to compliment the gray pants and each player choosing which branch of the U.S. armed forces they want displayed on the nameplates (H/T Marc Morehouse of the Cedar Rapids Gazette for the latter).
As long as we don’t have to see last Saturday’s throwbacks again, we’re fine with this. After their 9–6 loss to Iowa State last Saturday, the Hawkeyes probably don’t want to.
